We are building February Capital to solve our own problem: gaining thoughtful and strategic access to venture capital.
Having sat on both sides of the table - as entrepreneurs seeking capital and as investors deploying it - we’ve seen firsthand both the promise and the challenges of this asset class. From the learnings of startup life and after many checks written, we came to the earned conclusion that investing in venture funds is very the best approach for our own capital.
We strongly believe that the most exceptional companies want to be invested in by the most exceptional investors. So, in order to truly access the next generation of industry-defining companies, we need to partner with the world’s best venture funds.
We’ve made it our full time job to discover and support the next generation of fund managers. Many of them are still under the radar - often successfully exited founders, angel investors or alumni of top tier firms. They know exactly what they’re looking for, and they are far-and-away the best positioned to win their spot on the cap tables of tomorrow’s great companies.
Still, you might ask: why venture?
What excites us about venture capital is simple: we get the chance to back the ideas that may one day change the way we live and interact with the world!
This is an ideology we both share. It underpins our dedication to building February, and to serving as an access point - so that others can join us in supporting the world’s next generational businesses. Its fuelled us to meet 500+ fund managers over the last ~2 years. And its driven us to be patient in overcoming just a few hurdles to get February live…!
At its best, venture is the act of making something from nothing - of backing the non-obvious ideas and founders who see the world differently and have the courage to change it. Google, Amazon, Facebook, Airbnb, and Uber were once just improbable ideas on a slide deck. It’s about asking what if and believing in what could be, long before the outcome is certain. It’s an asset class rooted in optimism. Indeed, the most you can lose is 1x your capital, but the upside…uncapped.
To us, venture is the privilege of helping to build the future: investing in the people and ideas that will transform the world in the next decade and beyond.
Here’s to investing in a future we are all excited to be part of.
